About the temple
Tripura Sundari Mandir in Naggar is a beautifully preserved wooden pagoda-style temple perched on the hillside above the historic Naggar Castle. Dedicated to Devi Tripura Sundari, one of the ten Mahavidyas of the Shakta tradition, the temple commands panoramic views of the Kullu Valley and the Beas River far below. The wooden architecture with its carved brackets and sloping roof is a masterpiece of Himachali craftsmanship.

Devi Tripura Sundari is considered the embodiment of ultimate beauty and cosmic power. Her temple in Naggar is one of the most important Shakti peethas in the Kullu region, drawing devotees seeking blessings of beauty, intelligence, and liberation.
History & legend
The temple is believed to have been built by the Kullu royal family during their occupation of Naggar as their capital (before the shift to Sultanpur). The pagoda-style wooden construction typical of the Kullu-Manali region was maintained and renovated over several centuries. The nearby Naggar Castle (now a heritage hotel) was built in the same era.

How to reach
Naggar is 32 km north of Kullu on the left (west) bank of the Beas River. From Kullu, take a bus or taxi via Patlikuhl. The temple is a 15-minute uphill walk (or short taxi ride) from Naggar Castle. From Manali (13 km), hire a taxi — about 30 minutes.
