About the temple

A small but powerful shrine on a wooded hilltop above Bhekhli village. Jagannathi Devi is considered the elder sister of the Kullu valley deities and is said to bless travellers with safe passage through the mountains.

Significance

During Dussehra, Jagannathi Devi is the first goddess to arrive at the Dhalpur ground, and the festivities cannot begin without her presence.

History & legend

The shrine is mentioned in regional bardic poetry as one of the oldest devi seats in Kullu, predating the Raghunath cult. The current stone structure was rebuilt in the 18th century after a fire damaged the original wooden mandir.
