About the temple
Murlidhar Krishna Mandir in Naggar is a charming temple dedicated to Lord Krishna in his form as Murlidhar — the player of the divine flute. Located on the road to Naggar Castle, the temple is a beloved pilgrimage stop for Vaishnavas visiting the Kullu Valley. Its wooden architecture and serene mountain setting make it an exceptionally peaceful place for meditation and prayer.
Significance
As one of the few Krishna temples in the predominantly Shaiva and Shakta Kullu Valley, Murlidhar Mandir holds a special place as a centre of Vaishnava devotion. The deity is believed to grant blessings of devotion, music, and creative inspiration.
History & legend
The temple was established by Vaishnava merchants and devotees who settled in Naggar during the medieval period when the town was Kullu's royal capital. The present wooden structure with its carved interior dates to the 15th–16th century, with restoration work carried out in the 19th and 20th centuries.

How to reach
The temple is on Naggar Castle Road, about 300 m below the castle. From Naggar village, walk uphill for 10 minutes or take a short taxi ride. Naggar is 32 km from Kullu and 13 km from Manali.
